Summary of Function: Provides business analysis, counseling, and training to small business owners and managers. Serves as a resource for businesses and assists in identifying opportunities for seminars and workshops.
Supervision Received: This position reports to the Small Business Development Center Director; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine matters.
Meet with small business owners and prospective owners who are Small Business Development Center clients.
Use interview and counseling techniques to gather information about business operations.
Conduct independent research to supplement information gathered directly from SBDC clients.
Analyze information gathered to formulate specific recommendations which would enhance the success of client's businesses; prepare written summaries of information, analysis and recommended actions.
Track progress of clients in making progress toward agreed upon goals for business counseling undertaken.
Perform marketing and public relations to promote SBDC services.
Adhere to college, federal and state administrative procedures, guidelines, initiatives and directives to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations affecting college operations, including Arizona SBDC Network and host institution/organization.
Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Associate's degree in business administration or related field; three year's business consulting, administration, ownership or management experience; valid Arizona driver's license and/or transportation; willingness to travel to multiple locations throughout the area; willingness to work some evenings and weekends; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities.
