JOB SUMMARY: With consultation of the KBSOBEL Division Director, the Finance Faculty is responsible for the instruction of finance courses and other appropriate business-related courses as needed, advising and curricular initiatives of the finance program. The Financial Services Program Director is responsible for providing effective leadership in curriculum development, implementation and evaluation of the Financial Services program and related minors. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position.

 

 

Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Adheres to all university academic and employment policies identified in the Employee and Faculty handbooks and academic catalogs
  • Participates in recruitment, retention, and development efforts in coordination with division members and/or Enrollment Services
  • Fulfills full-time contracted teaching load as defined by the faculty handbook
  • Engages in Scholarship as defined by the Boyer Model, including, but not limited to activities identified in the faculty handbook
  • Respects the moral and religious beliefs of the university and students; uses discretion when expressing personal beliefs and views
  • Attends program, division, college and university meetings as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Division Director or college Dean
  • Develops, implements, assesses, and revises program curriculum to achieve current standards
  • Provides effective leadership in development and implementation of programmatic mission and vision for improvement through strategic planning
  • Provides effective leadership in oversight of student recruitment and retention responsibilities
  • Coordinates academic advising, supporting, and assessing student academic achievement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Master’s degree in an area of business, management, risk management or finance required; terminal degree preferred

 

 

Experience

  • Evidence of successful teaching at the post-secondary level
  • Professional experience in finance or risk management preferred

Align with one of the following:

  • Hold a Master’s degree in an area of business plus three years’ relevant work and/or teaching experience to be qualified to teach principle or introductory level business courses only.
  • Be ABD, (All But Dissertation, meaning the individual has completed all course work required for a Ph.D. in business or DBA and passed the general exams, but has not completed a dissertation) with a major, minor or concentration in the area of assigned teaching responsibilities.
  • Hold a master’s degree in a business-related field and professional certification (e.g., CPA, CDP, CFM, CMA, PHR., etc.) appropriate to his or her assigned teaching responsibilities.
  • Hold a Master’s degree and have extensive and substantial documented successful teaching experience in the area of assigned teaching responsibilities, and demonstrate involvement in meaningful research directly related to the teaching discipline.
  • Hold a master’s degree and have five or more years of professional and management experience in work directly related to his or her assigned teaching responsibilities.
  • Hold a master’s degree and successfully complete a minimum of fifteen (15) graduate credit hours in the discipline in which she/he is teaching or have completed a special post-graduate training program (ACBSP approved) especially designed to improve the faculty member’s knowledge and teaching skills in the area of the assigned teaching responsibilities.

 

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrates competence in educational principles, instructional methods, evaluation techniques and technology used in higher education classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the profession including theory and practice, procedures, and regulations
  • Demonstrates proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community
  • Demonstrates skill in goal setting and team building
  • Demonstrates analytical and organizational skills to plan, implement, and evaluate program activities
  • Demonstrates honesty and loyalty to the University and support its mission and religious affiliation
  • Demonstrates ability to coordinate services to the needs of diverse populations within the time and financial limits of the institution
  • Must be willing to work irregular, and sometimes long hours, including weekends and university breaks

 

 

Licenses or certifications

  • Licensure or certifications in financial services disciplines preferred
