SUMMARY: The Instructor of Accounting, a full-time, non-tenure-track member of the Davis School of Business (DSB), teaches accounting courses at the undergraduate level. Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is a state-funded institution that emphasizes quality teaching and research, having embraced the teacher-scholar model. The DSB is currently seeking AACSB accreditation; our initial self-evaluation report and first progress report have been accepted.
CMU is a modern campus nestled in the Grand Valley in beautiful western Colorado, home of Colorado's wine and fruit country (including the famous Palisade peaches), with close access to some of the best outdoor activities in the region including skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking, and many other activities. QUALIFICATIONSThe standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned courses may be taught face-to-face, on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A graduate degree in accounting or related field with significant coursework (at least 18 graduate credit hours) in accounting.
Experience teaching college-level accounting courses.
Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
Professional accounting credential, CPA strongly preferred.
Accounting industry experience strongly preferred given our hands-on, application-oriented approach in the classroom.
Evidence of excellence in teaching experience.
Prior experience with advising and/or service.
