Summary of Job Duties:
This instructor position has a three-course teaching requirement each semester (9 credit hours per semester), with a potential mix of face-to-face and online courses, as needed. Teaching area will be determined based upon Department need and instructor strengths.
Engagement and Outreach activities include working with external stakeholders such as Alumni, State Boards of Accountancy, Public Accounting Firms, Corporate Partners, an active Accounting Executive Advisory Board and Junior Alumni Councils. The assistant director will be actively involved in supporting the Department Chairs efforts to provide Departmental communications with external parties, including Monthly Department updates and social media content. Responsibilities will also include event planning, including the Annual Accounting Awards Banquet, Summer Recruiter Summit, Advisory Board Meetings, Young Alumni Council events and Fall and Spring Accounting Career Fairs. Collaboration with local Accounting Groups to facilitate alumni and professional development activities. Assist in collection and dissemination of Department achievements, including but limited to, faculty activities; student retention and graduation rates; job placement outcomes; certification or licensure results; and Alumni career advancements.
Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment
Professional Accounting Certification (CPA, CIA, or equivalent)
At least three years of professional accounting experience
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate student learning in individual and classroom settings
Understanding of and appreciation for inclusion, including the ability to work with student s, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and identities
Candidates must maintain instructor practitioner or academic practitioner qualifications consistent with AACSB Standards
Event planning or student services experience.
Experience dealing with corporate managers and recruiters.
Experience with external communication tools
Prior university teaching experience
Prior online teaching experience
Commensurate with education and experience
