Job Description


Columbia University, School of Professional Studies (SPS) seeks candidates to serve as a part-time Lecturer to teach an online graduate-level course in Strategic Workforce Planning.

Organizations are seeking to leverage human capital to differentiate and gain competitive market advantage in today’s rapidly changing business environment. That leverage and advantage often come through talent strategies deployed with Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP). This discipline has the potential to connect talent strategy to actionable, integrated talent management plans. It also supports organizational continuity. SWP practitioners play the role of diagnostician, analyst, and solution orchestrator to focus human resources and organizational resources for maximum impact within their organizations.

In this elective course, students will will learn SWP processes and techniques by a data-driven approach. There will be a heavy focus on the practical application of SWP in today’s business contexts. Students intending to pursue careers in any HR domain will benefit from this course. They will receive peer and instructor feedback throughout the semester and use real-time challenges to ground their practical work in theoretical best practices.

 

Qualifications


Columbia University SPS operates under a scholar-practitioner faculty model, which enables students to learn from faculty that have outstanding academic training as well as a record of accomplishment as practitioners in an applied industry setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussions.
  • Attend all class sessions.
  • Monitor and address student concerns and inquiries.
  • Evaluate, grade student work, and assessments.
  • Conduct office hours.
  • Participate in Faculty meetings
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the course by leveraging the class experience and student feedback.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree, with a preference for a doctorate, in an area related to Human Capital Management and Strategic Workforce Planning
  • Proficiency in business knowledge, multiple HCM disciplines, and business partnership
  • Professional experience and demonstrated success in senior-level industry roles, preferably as a CHRO, HR Business Partner/Advisor and/or Consultant.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of professional experience in a role related to Human Capital Management
  • 2+ years of teaching experience, ideally at the graduate level.
